MAP Sensor 4EFTE
« on: May 20, 2010, 06:04:47 AM »
Recently dropped a 4EFTE in a 98 Reflet, but cant get the MAp sensor to work.  The MAP sensor from the 4E FE works with the FTE engine but the difference is obvious.  Why is the FTE MAp sensor not working and how do i solve this problem.

If you look on the MAP sensors, you'll notice a nice little difference, the FE says VACUUM SENSOR, and the FTE says TURBO PRESSURE SENSOR. The next thing is the ECU that you're using. You've got to use the correct one. Running the turbo engine on the vacuum sensor + FE/FTE ECU should a)kick in the check engine light instantly and/or b)not be able to provide any proper fueling. Using the pressure sensor on the FE ECU will create a problem since there's no programming for the car when it goes on boost, thus you would also get the above.

Does it say Vacuum, or pressure on it?

You need to get the 4E-FTE MAP sensor. As 4E said above, you're using the 4E-FE MAP sensor on a 4E-FTE ECU.

i believe most turbo starlets map sensors are also orange in color.  If you find a green one that should work too (4agze unconfirmed) the regular ones are blue (1 bar map)
