Ok, so let me restart by posting the early photos leading up to today, i got this car 8th of april, so you can judge exactly how much work was put in by me myself and i  [drunk]

Broken Coolant Temp Sensor  [wallbash] mess up the idle, cause a check engine light  give a bad spot on intial rev, but its fine i got another one someplace laying around  [ponder]

Guessing by the fact that you mentioned a check engine light i'm guessing you are still using the stock GZE ecu, correct? If so do you have any plans to change management?

No not right now, i intentionally decided to get that ecu to match everything in the engine so that i dont have to rely or depend on the afc , in the future i will look into different management systems, but for not my map / injectors / ecu / pistons, rods / coils are gze spec so might as well..  [drunk]

ok, so currently the car is technically down..... [stretcher] im still driving it, but its after the fact, im trying to remember where we left off first of all the car is Blue.. just like the last one (4dr) so that should tell you how long i havnt posted anything, i have since made a ton of changes... turbo... etc..

Anyway moving forward.... i got another 4age block last january which is an actual supercharged block with oil squirts and everything that my tvis block didnt have however the gze pistons that i currently use (8.0.1 cpr) dont carry the cutouts on the pistons for the squirt jets so.. thats reason one... reason two is the next gen gze pistons (8.9.1 cr) as u can tell have higher compression so the boost i run will make more sense on those pistons as i am still running stock ecu and it pretty much bottoms out at 14psi as per the stock map sensor, the other pistons seem to make more sense if i am running say 18 psi, off boost response will be alot better as well....

Thats the easy part.... the hard part is gze pistons are very difficult to find in std sizes which make sense caz if you are looking gze pistons it means the ones you had are damaged and if you damage a gze piston it means you probably damaged the block... [ponder] so the oversized pistons are everywhere as opposed to the std. i suspect thats the logic. so you know who going 20THO...  [bike]

Cylinder will be bored to 81.5mm so i expect a little more omphfff from that as well  [bike]

good thing am already running a cometic 1mm mls gasket which is 83mm so i have a general multiuse gasket  [wacko]


thats all fine and dandy except for the fact i seem to have kicked a bearing  [chairbang].... not the car or engine fault  [wallbash] my dam fault...... so thats why i said the car is technically down but im still driving it, plan to pull it up tomorrow and see whats what... if i have to cut the crank im going with some ACL bearings..

next on the list is to ditch my 365cc injectors for some supra mk3 440cc injectors... theses are perfect, same imp same amp same size same everything except for cc and color... i notice on 10 psi which is slightly higher than what the ecu expects (8) i have been seeing white plugs,,... so basically running lean, and caz am not staying at 8 psi im going to bump up the fuel a bit and see where it goes  [bike]

Forgot to mention i did the dashboard conversion i always wanted...  [wave] its so neat i completely forgot i did it, im running the turbo starlet dash and gauge cluster from a standard starlet... everything works,,...  [drunk] its been a joy to not have a dash board crack everytime i launch the car  [stretcher]

Have you checked Berts? I know they carried them in the past. Give them a call to confirm if they have in stock.

I know of a set of RX7 460cc injectors for sale if you're interested. They are interchangeable with the Toyota injectors. Same Denso brand with oval connector and high imp. These are rebuilt, cleaned and flow tested and in great condition.

Ohhhhhhhhhkay so update, i managed to remove the engine from the car sunday gone, and as suspected the crank was  [whoopass]... number 2 conrod.. and strangely number 5 main  [ponder] anyway... i happen to have an extra rod so thats a good thing.. the crank was taken to the machine shop awaiting the runout check to see if its still withing the 0.0003 manufacturer spec... the block is awaiting some cleaning then off the get bored to 0.50mm but first i plan to get myhands on the most expensive part of this upgrade first which are the pistons, then the boring of the block, then crank then rings, then bearings.... basically that order... then its smooth sailing  [bike]...

i will be posting as i go along....

did i mention am running coil on plugs with the stock gze ecu  [ninja] [wacko] for those who know should know its not as easy as it sounds  [nod]

Actually, more than most people know, i really cant bother with posting on wheels again its a ghost town in here.  [noclue]

but the car in the process of a major rebuild as mentioned, yesterday i was able to purchase the 4 GZE 8.9.1 pistons + 0.5mm so the first step is complete.. next i want to secure the rings so i can take the block to the machine shop to get that bore + 0.5mm  [drunk] no expecting much power gains from the oversize part of the build but definitely the higher compression [kick]
 
i secured a set of 440cc injectors for the build as well, should be ok with my stock ecu  [ponder] im currently on 365cc and i am experiencing some white plug issues, plus when i add a little with the afc it idles better, but since im running stock ecu i rather not have to adjust the afc to make the car idle properly so i usually have that in default at idle.

i bought another set of viton valve seals, the ones im using are fine, but i want to regrind a couple valves and i dont want to do so with the valve inside the current seals

the turbo center has been changed and basically fresh again  [kick]

then the new turbo manifold that i am working on, is coming along very nicely..,

good question first one, no havnt been to the dyno, power expectation is alot less than this setup is capable of, im going for 200-220... why you ask, well based on experience a friend of mine had a similar car making 328hp,...... and could not leave the 14 class.... no traction, that engine was wrecked by the mechanics failure to tighten the oil bung.... anyway he got another engine didnt tune but dynoed at 178hp,... did 13.5 at jamwest.  [ponder].....  so yeah i wont squeeze more than i need from it which means it should last alot longer  [bike]

Yep, so just got back the block, ported and all.... looking lovely i must add [drunk] so, just here waiting on the bearings  [whistle]......, planning on fitting up next sunday  [bike]...... will atleast fully assemble the lower half and install it in the car....., although if i reach that far, its really not hard to put the head on and the rest of crap around it.  [boxing] however... i think i will dedicate an entire day to the head, im changing it to another i had from some time ago,... so i need to grind the valves and make sure all are seated.., so wont be rushing the setup, just want the block in the bay to feel like am getting somewhere  [drunk]

will go collect the crank today, then its the waiting game for the bearings,...  [drunk] as soon as i get those then i will seriously start assembling the lower half and get the ball rolling, i have all the pieces for the turbo manifold cut and measured, just need so be welded in place,. decided not to go electric this trip, so i will have someone else weld the parts together with bottle welding, seeing that the metal is thinner on this one.

Yes its off the 2az, real easy to work with,.. well i havnt been posting the updates like one time, but im making some serious headway, crank is torqued in, so are the oil sqirts and the pistons, will collect the oil pump later and then by tomorrow i should be able to install the lower half into the car, once thats done i can start bolting on the heavier crap on it  [stretcher]... then go from there.. maybe i get started on the turbo manifold from tomorrow and see how that goes but it really down hill from here  [bike]
