Other than the price, which last I heard was $30Gs, does anyone have any more details on these?
Like amount of letters numbers punctuation etc etc?

30k, three months wait time, 7 characters for private vehicles. I've been meaning to get a pair but the wait time and lack of knowledge of the process by the workers at IRD was just a huge turn off.

You can call 1-888-tax-help for more detailed info. They usually answer on the first ring and they're surprisingly pleasant.

Post any additional info you get here

Only the wording/lettering can be of your choice, the color can't be changed. ......white for private motor vehicles etc.
