Reigning JKA National and Junior Champion Senna Summerbell has been selected by the FIA Americas to represent Jamaica in the FIA Americas E-Karting Cup in Conde, Brazil from 24th to 26th of November.

The E-Karting Cup of FIA Americas is part of the ROTAX MAX Challenge Grand Finals, from Nov. 24th – Dec. 1st, 2018. Only 16 drivers, each from a different country, from 14 to 17 years old have been selected to participate in this event. In addition to racing for the FIA Americas E-Karting Cup, if Senna is among the first four finishers he will have a chance to compete in the DEKM Rotax Grand Final later that week.  The DEKM is the world's first electronic kart championship.

This will be Senna's first time driving an electric kart.

JMMC wish him good luck for a safe and successful event.

Senna Summerbell is currently en route to represent Jamaica in the FIA Americas E-Karting Cup in Conde, Brazil from 24th to 26th of November.

The Reigning JKA Overall and Junior Champion revealed the Jamaican-themed livery of his new race suit and helmet yesterday via social media.

This will be Senna's first time driving an electric kart. The E-Karting Cup of FIA Americas, part of the ROTAX MAX Challenge Grand Finals, features only 16 drivers aged 14 to 17, each from a different country. Senna will be accompanied by his father David Summerbell Jnr.

JMMC wish him good luck for a safe and successful event.

Jamaican Senna Summerbell will finally get his chance to drive an E-Kart on Sunday during an eight-minute Practice session. Qualifying for the FIA Americas E-Karting Cup will take place two hours later, with the Pre-Final another two hours after.

At today's Registration and Scrutineering, Senna picked the #10 E-Kart from a random draw. His team led by David Summerbell Jnr will attach the necessary weights, transponder and identification decals before tomorrow's driver's briefing.

JMMC wish him good luck for a safe and successful event.

Jamaican Senna Summerbell showed continuous lap time improvement in each session driving his Rotax Thunder E-Kart on the first day of the FIA Americas E-Karting Cup in Conde, Brazil.

His 8th quickest Practice time of 58.353 was a distant memory when he improved to 57.293 in Qualifying to claim 3rd on the Pre-Final grid.

His second-row start in the Pre-Final was compromised when he had to swerve off track in order to avoid being hit in Corner 3 of the very first lap, dropping him to 6th place. He was able to recover to 5th before the end of the short 6-lap race; he will start on the third row in today's Final.

In this morning's Warm-up Senna again showed lap-time improvement, posting 56.932 for 4th in the session. Senna's final will be at 11:11am Jamaica time today.

JMMC wish him good luck for a safe and successful event.

When Jamaican Senna Summerbell started from 5th position in the Final of the FIA Americas E-Karting Cup the mission was clear; try for a podium finish and be in the top four to claim a spot in the DEKM Rotax Grand Finals later this week. He initially dropped two spots down to 7th after the first lap but then worked his way to 4th on lap seven of the eight lap race.

As he began the last lap Senna seemed poised to claim an automatic qualifying spot in the DEKM Rotax Grand Finals and was within two-tenths of a podium spot of the FIA Americas race itself. A bizarre kamikaze move by Argentinian Isidoro Vezzaro hit the side of Senna's kart, forcing him to brake hard, and allowed another competitor past into 4th place, the final automatic qualifying spot. With little more than half lap left in the race Senna couldn't recover in time to challenge and crossed the line in 5th. A 5-second penalty levied by the Stewards post-race against the Argentinian was of little comfort; Senna was 100% in the right but nothing could be done about the result.

"He got a five second penalty for what he did to me, costing me the 4th position" said Senna "I really appreciate the opportunity I was given and can't thank the JMMC enough. Win or lose I learned a lot."
