fools fools all of you!
how could this this exist, if it was glass we would see more reflections , seconldy if this person drives this car particles are bound to scratch up the glass (like a cd) seconly how the glass atatched to the metal? and attacthed strong enough so that the it can handle the torque? hmm?
the brakes would also over heat seeing that there are no holes in the glass .
and finaly we should be able to see the bolt stems assuming the glass has a thickness alteat 3 cm or so.

conclusion: all this person did was take of his wheel , take a picture of the car's brakes\suspension without the wheel  then him put on back the wheel and take another picture , go to him computer and photo shop the thing.

this was very creative but borders on idleness. next ting u soon see dem come on wid glass bottom car wid stone wind screen and blacklight inna di head lamp ! [dwl] [rofl] [rofl]

Wat!! bredrin u seem fi nuh hav nuh sence. it clearly isnt glass whe can like ur windshield. if u look in the first pic u will see a reflection, also it si due to the angle of light y u dont see much of a reflection. u r telling me that  glasses or certain matterial can scratch easiler eg bullet proof?  indeed it does exsist and stop being so stubborn

lexan (bullet resistant glass) would definately be strong enough to support the wheel. well really any thing can be strong enough if engineered right...remember the popsicle stick bridges that could hold 600lbs? it's all in the design.

One issue...cooling.

Yow, dat haaarrrddd, but def not practical, can u imagine when brake dust start build up as you brake hard? U would have to take the wheel off just to clean it. Imagine a rain fall or a man splash u car when u driving? Pure ppl a dead off cause of road rage!!!

Ok , that is clearly just for show , if your go over 100MPH with that , it might crack up like a cd

Im sure there is a speed and braking limit on it . imagine blazing then slamming on the brakes and the rim breaks right off the lug nuts

glass cant take that stress, bullet proff glass  can take impact but not neccesarily compressive loads like a car. the glass would have to be a couple centimeters thick. a bullet weights a couple grams and it only hits for a couple thousants of a second and the glass is still deformed after impact. this car is over 1000kg , and the load is always on the wheels, so sudjesting lexan and bullet proof glass wasnt a good idea. its a good photo shop , and just to prove it i will repeat it , i will even put in a little reflection to fool most of u.
the stress produced by the bolts of the hub are also a problem.

maybe its just bullet proof glass ,but the yute was idle enough to get them made , but just put them on for pictures and to show  [winner] ( like a show car)  but take them off before him drive again  [chairbang], if u have a video of it driving then that is different

[laugh]  Damn ya gonna need wipers for those....but wait  will insurance cover them much like under windshield damage [chairbang]..OK tell me how ya attach them to the car..HUUUUUMMM oh wait crazy glue for glass rims  [crazy].  Anyway guys there are hard substances out there, but I suspect to make transparent rims would not be on the high list of priorities furter more to constantly heat the glass (expansion) and cool the glass (contraction) could lead to separation of the glass and the metal.

Like Facious said it would be good if something like this could manifest but trying to vet the rims exist by the scions reflection that no make it.

Look on the first picture you will see the scion's front wheel and bumper on the rear bumper of the car.

Besides the same comment was made on another forum somehwere else in the world http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread/t-107808.html

Not knocking whether it does exist or not but this line of reasoning no make especially when the distance of the obvious reflection and its distance from the camera angle, there is now way for the rim to get it.

no man it not photoshopped... look at the top pic of the rear wheel and you see the reflection of the scion wheel [bb]

As regards strength, it's the same type of glass used on armoured plated vehicles, so no worries there. As regards how they look... i'm not too sure.

Does that mean it can withstand dropping in a world-class (i.e. Jamaican) pothole?

Lol, I'm sure it would be fine, if it will stop a bullet i'm sure it'll stop a pothole. Here's another pic with them on a 350Z. Even the brakes on this look lost in the open space.

Interesting idea, does look nice and flashy but doesn't seem very practical no matter what material it's made of. certainly not for our roads.   :-\ :-\
