Also WD-40 or Kerosene, spray on, wait a few minutes and then wipe off with a clean dry cloth. Use some mild soap afterward to get off the WD-40 or Kerosene residue

gunk is a product for getting rid of grease and grime from the engine bay  [wallbash] much too harsh for paint...

next time use a paint brush to apply the kerosene oil on the tar spots instead, continue that method until all the tar has melted off.  Using cloths to rub the tar tends to abrase the paint surface.

so wait a sec, you just apply it with the paint brush and leave it on for a couple minutes?

not true......there are many products specific to get tar or grime off car paint however most common one among jamaican ppl is a little kerosene and a wet cloth.......however gunk and turtlewax do make a product called bug and tar remover i belive meguiars has it as well they all do the same thing however some are stronger but kerosene is the strongest so it shud not be left on as long and after usage the car must be properly washed off shortly after.

dont disagree wit u at all but it depends on the type of paint an how dem paint it, if is a cheap job dat it nuh buff or shine properly which in other worlds if it dont hav a glossy look it will mess up u paint wen u use the gas oil (diesel), because it doesnt hav that smothe surface it will stain the vehicle.

Im afraid that these oils (gasoleine, kerosene) are not good for the paint so whats the safest way to go?

All Im saying is that prevention is better than cure. If u c somebody just pave a road and u can avoid it then do so if not then draw fi di kerosene. Some ppl just seem to get a kick out of...

kerosene can use but not too much one time...u zimi it will damage the clear coat if not use properly.....

natural thing dat u cant prevent tar from splashing up.....only if u upgrade ur mud guards....the keep it off the doors and bumpers
